Winter Palace Hotel
Inside the Old Winter Palace

The Old Winter Palace Hotel, a 5-star hotel located on the banks of the River Nile in Luxor, Egypt, just south of Luxor Temple, was built in 1886 during English and French occupation of the region.

In 1975 the complex was extended with the construction of the New Winter Palace. The addition classed as a 3-star hotel, is joined by corridors to the original. The two hotels share many amenities including the gardens, pools, tennis courts, terraces and restaurants. This section is now being demolished.

It is now owned by Sofitel, a French company.
