I recently asked Voice of All to modify his history script so that it's compatible with the secure server. (diff) He directed me to ask you since he's busy right now. Could you please edit the script to make those changes? It just requires replacing each instance of http://en.wikipedia.org with wgServer and /w/index.php with wgScript. This user is just coming off a 3-hour block for disruptive editing (mass AFD nominations - after speedies and prods on them are declined). He's using Twinkle to make the nominations. Could you keep an eye on things and, if he returns to these edits, revoke his Twinkle rights?- Mgm|(talk) 13:21, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
I have nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at the discussion page. Thank you. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 10:19, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
It's me again.
Is there any chance you'll remove the "it's a confusing username" option from Twinkle? The username policy has consistently discouraged blocking "confusing usernames" for over six months now, in addition to the months before that where it was a questionable practice. The introduction of global logins only helped to solidify this, because which names are seen as confusing is highly dependent on the language of the Wikipedia.
The current, stable version of the policy, which has survived a great deal of talk page discussion and some Administrators' Noticeboard threads, says (a) that usernames should only be blocked for confusion in the very rare case that the user keeps editing while ignoring requests to change the name, and (b) even this case is controversial. It definitely doesn't belong on UAA, which is for requesting quick blocks in cut-and-dried cases.
But we still get users who assume that Twinkle matches the policy, and they report usernames for being confusing, which means:
Could you please resolve this by removing the "confusing" option? rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 07:09, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
