Species diversity |
Species diversity refers to the number and distribution of species in one location. Simply the measure of the number of different species within a given area. Humans have a huge effect on species diversity, the main reasons are:
- Destruction, Modification, and/or Fragmentation of Habitat
- Introduction of Exotic Species,
- Overharvest
- Global Climate Change
species diversity can also be referred to as biodiversity; some communities contain more species than others; for example: a rainforest consists of many thousands species of different animals and plants where as others such as a boreal forest may support considerably fewer number of species.
