Princess Anita Theodora of Orange-Nassau, van Vollenhoven-van Eijk (legal name Anita Theodora van Eijk, born 27 October 1969), is the wife of HH Prince Pieter-Christiaan of Orange-Nassau, van Vollenhoven, the third son of HRH Princess Margriet of the Netherlands and Pieter van Vollenhoven.
Anita van Eijk was born in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, the daughter of Leonardus Antonius van Eijk and J.C.M. van Eijk-Steens. She studied English at Leiden University and communications at the University of Amsterdam.
Van Eijk met Prince Pieter-Christiaan in London and the couple announced their engagement on 25 February 2005. They married in a civil ceremony on 25 August 2005 at the Het Loo Palace, Apeldoorn, which was followed by a religious ceremony on 27 August 2005 at the Grote van St. Jeroenskerk in Noordwijk. On her marriage, Van Eijk acquired the courtesy title of Her Highness, Princess of Orange-Nassau, van Vollenhoven-van Eijk due to her husband's status as a Prince of Orange-Nassau. Since Prince Pieter-Christiaan did not seek parliamentary approval for his marriage, due to the remote chance of his succession to the throne, he lost his place in line to the Dutch throne upon his marriage.
On the 9th of June 2006, Prince Pieter-Christiaan and Princess Anita announced that they were expecting their first child. Princess Anita gave birth to a daughter, Emma Francisca Catharina van Vollenhoven, on 28 November 2006. The baby was born at 6:00 pm at the Onze Lieve Vrouwe Gasthuis in Amsterdam and weighed 3970 grams (8 lbs, 7 ounces). On the 15th of May 2008, the couple announced that they are expecting their second child at the end of November 2008.[1] Princess Anita gave birth to a son on November 19, 2008. His full name is Pieter Anton Maurits Erik. He weighed 3745 grams and he was born on 1.32 am in The Hague.
