North-East is one of the districts of Botswana. Its capital is Masunga. In 2001, North-East had a population of 132,422 people. The north east is predominatly occupied by Kalanga speaking people (BaKalanga). The area have been under leadership and control of the bangwato tribe. Their leader is Tshekedi Khama.
In the north and east, North-East borders the Matabeleland South Province of Zimbabwe. In the south and west, North-East borders Central District.
